Since her childhood, Sooz has been drawing and painting. In school, she was "that girl who is always drawing horses", as one art teacher lamented.
Sooz developed her skills in pen and ink, acrylic and oil paint. Her first professional experience involved creating graphic art and painting backdrops for a TV station. Later she free-lanced, self-publishing and selling her drawings, always insisting on high printing standards.
For many years, Sooz made an annual Christmas drawing and sent it in the form of a high-quality card to close friends and relatives. Many of those recipients have maintained their collection of Sooz's Christmas cards since the early 1980's.
One of Sooz's drawings became the logo for Sheltie Rescue of Georgia and is used on their website and fundraising merchandise. She also painted one of the murals ("Clouded Leopard") featured on the Paul Titus Carousel at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.
Reproduced below are a few examples of Sooz's pen and ink artwork. Many of these were created in the 1980s, and some have deteriorated a bit. They are matted, framed and difficult to photograph. But the attention to detail and the charm of Sooz's imagination is still evident.
